Ceramic braces are made of translucent material that blends with your teeth and resists staining. Their low-profile design makes them virtually unnoticeable, offering a discreet option for patients of any age. They are smaller than metal braces, suitable for both top and bottom teeth, and can be customized with clear or colored elastic ties for a subtle or vibrant look.
At South Alabama Orthodontics, we let you decide what type of braces would suit you best. Some of our patients like to “show off their smile” with the metal victory series bracket from 3M Unitek. This traditional type of bracket is made of high-grade stainless steel. Our patients comfort and choice is one of our main concerns.
Clarity Aligners straighten teeth without metal wires or braces using a series of nearly invisible, removable trays. A custom digital plan maps your treatment, showing how your smile will transform. Worn for about one to two weeks per set, aligners should be used 22 hours a day for best results. Unlike braces, they can be removed for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing—offering a discreet, flexible solution for a confident smile.
Lasers are used in orthodontic treatment for a variety of conditions. They can be used to remove excess or overgrown gingival tissue, exposure of impacted canines, or frenectomies. Lasers use a special wavelength of light to remove the excess tissue without scaring or bleeding. The use of lasers helps to dramatically increase the esthetics of orthodontic treatment when indicated.
Temporary anchorage devices, or TADs, are small titanium anchors used in certain orthodontic cases to help achieve tooth movement with more efficiency and comfort. TADs are used in addition to braces to help better control tooth movement. TADs also allow us to successfully treat many cases without the use of orthognathic surgery.
