Who We Are
At South Alabama Orthodontics, Drs. Langley, O’Neil, and Carter, along with their experienced team, are committed to providing a full range of high-quality orthodontic services. Our comprehensive treatments include: braces for children, teens and adults; clear ceramic braces, and 3M Clarity clear aligners.
Our practice uses the latest technology—such as diode lasers and temporary anchorage devices (TADs)—to ensure your treatment is both comfortable and efficient. We also offer appliances to help reduce or prevent snoring, along with therapies to relieve muscle soreness and TMJ disorders.

Dr. Shane Langley
Dr. Shane Langley is a dedicated orthodontist and lifelong resident of Fairhope, Alabama. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Spring Hill College in Mobile, followed by his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and specialized orthodontic training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
Dr. Langley is an active educator and respected leader in his field. He continues to train orthodontic residents at UAB and speaks internationally for 3M, covering topics such as diagnosis, treatment planning, biomechanics, and complex orthodontic strategies.
He and his wife, Elisabeth Ingram Langley, have six children: Ellie Grace, Ford, Ollie, Lois Kate, Jules Ann, and Charlie. He devotes his time to his family, church, and orthodontic practice. When he has time to unwind, he enjoys woodworking, fishing, and watching baseball.
Dr. Rick O'Neil
Dr. Rick O’Neil, a native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, earned his Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Auburn University, followed by his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and orthodontic residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
With a focus on digital technology and esthetic-driven treatment, Dr. O’Neil is committed to delivering precise, individualized care. He also lectures for 3M, sharing his expertise in clear aligner therapy and advanced orthodontic techniques with colleagues around the world.
Dr. O’Neil and his wife, Marjorie Hannon O’Neil, have four children: James, Caroline, Catherine, and Carlisle. He spends much of his time with family, involved in church, and giving back to the community. Outside of orthodontics, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and working on his farm.
Dr. Logan Carter
Dr. Logan Carter is originally from Southern Utah. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology from Dixie State University, followed by his dental degree from A.T. Still University’s Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health. He completed his orthodontic residency at Saint Louis University, where he received training in digital treatment planning and modern orthodontic techniques.
Dr. Carter enjoys helping patients of all ages achieve healthier, more confident smiles. He is married to Sydney Jones Carter, and they have one son, Benson. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, working on landscaping projects, hunting, and trying new foods.
